Sony announces new phones on Facebook

New products focus on media and music functionality

Sony Ericsson announced two new phones today, the Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman and the Sony Ericsson Txt Pro, following a worldwide competition open to the company's 4.8 million Facebook fans.
The txt pro comes with a 3-inch touch screen display, and a full slide-out qwerty keyboard. The phone also comes with a friends application, designed for improved messaging and social networking, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and a micro SD slot that can take up to 32GB cards.

The Mix Walkman comes with identical touch screen, camera, and SD slot, and is apparently designed to deliver the best in musical entertainment. It comes with a ‘Zappin’ key, which allows you to search through tracks by skipping straight to the chorus of the next song, a karaoke feature, which lowers a songs vocal track for your sing-along pleasure, and offers you up to 13 hours of music playback.

Speaking on the manner of the announcement, Sony Global Product Marketing Manager Quentin Cordier said:

“We wanted to take advantage of our extensive Facebook fan base when announcing these phones, bringing the fans closer to both our products and brand. We are really pleased that consumers liked them for their music and social media functionality and expect them to become great additions to our overall portfolio of entertaining phones.”

No word on pricing yet, but expect the release date to be sometime in Q3.
