Apple's iOS 5 software suggests the iPhone 5 is to sport Full HD 1080p video recording credentials
Apple’s iOS 5 mobile operating system is to allow Full HD 1080p video to be exported, seemingly confirming that the iPhone 5 will feature an upgraded camera.
Whilst the iPhone 4 currently touts a 5-megapixel rear mounted camera capable of shooting HD video at 720p, it has been repeatedly rumoured in recent weeks that the iPhone 5 will come equipped with an 8-megapixel snapper, rumours that appear to have been confirmed by the last iOS 5 finding.
With iOS 5 officially unveiled by Steve Jobs at WWDC earlier this week ahead of a launch planned for autumn of this year, a timeframe that would coincide with the expected September arrival of the iPhone 5, the latest iPhone and iPad operating system could land alongside an iPhone revamp that is expected to sport the same A5 1GHz dual-core processor as the iPad 2 and an 8-megapiel camera with 1080p video recording capabilities.
If the iPhone 5 lands with 1080p video recording credentials, it will not be the first mobile handset to do so. Samsung’s market leading and hugely popular Samsung Galaxy S II currently sports an 8-meg snapper with the ability to record Full HD content as well as boasting a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.
