Samsung’s mid-sized Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet is facing delays due to limited availability of screen components, new reports suggest.
Officially unveiled earlier this year alongside the second and slimmer rendition of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is set to land featuring, as its name suggests, an 8.9-inch display that uses G1F architecture to minimise thickness whilst maximising screen brightness.
With Samsung targeting annual tablet sales in excess of 10 million units, the delay to the Galaxy Tab 8.9 could well see the tech manufacturer forced to replace the streamlined G1F displays with GFF offerings which run 30-40 per cent thicker and significantly dimmer that their ultra thin siblings.
Whilst those looking to snap up the 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab are forced to wait, fans of the 10.1-inch model, a device that was refreshed to sport a slimmer form factor following the unveiling of the iPad 2, were today treated to another teaser with Samsung launching a Galaxy Tab 10.1 video advert in which it mocks Apple’s market leading tablet
