Update: Winklevoss Twins Against Zuckerberg And Facebook

They are back! Only one day after the date of location £ 48m social networking giants, Winklevoss twins have brought a new case against the CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg, accusing him of suppressing the evidence.

It looks like Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and twins Winklevoss will not revive their friendship college soon.

Just one day after the Olympic rowers £ 48m agreed by the social networking giant, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss filed a motion asking the court of Massachusetts to determine whether Zuckerberg's legal team had removed key evidence during the trial three years .

Facebook stating that frustrated the efforts of his attorney to file a motion for discovery and relief. The presentation of the new states that once discovery is completed (ie, Facebook reveals evidence of a defendant to remove) twins seek an appropriate remedy.

And 'the second attack in the chin for the young Internet millionaire. Yesterday I discovered that the twins Winklevoss had agreed to $ 65 million (£ 48 million) settlement with Zuckerberg and Facebook.

Portrayed in unforgettable theatrical release last year in the founding of Facebook, the social network, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss agree to settle their dispute after the Supreme Court ruled they would not be allowed to renegotiate a contract that initially agreed in 2008.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 going delayed due to screen issue

“Samsung is having difficulty actually putting it on the market owing to the low process yield ratios of its key components,” announced a media outlet from Samsung’s native Korea, Etnews.

Samsung faces component shortages for its Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet, according to a report

Samsung’s mid-sized Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet is facing delays due to limited availability of screen components, new reports suggest.

Officially unveiled earlier this year alongside the second and slimmer rendition of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is set to land featuring, as its name suggests, an 8.9-inch display that uses G1F architecture to minimise thickness whilst maximising screen brightness.

With Samsung targeting annual tablet sales in excess of 10 million units, the delay to the Galaxy Tab 8.9 could well see the tech manufacturer forced to replace the streamlined G1F displays with GFF offerings which run 30-40 per cent thicker and significantly dimmer that their ultra thin siblings.

Whilst those looking to snap up the 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab are forced to wait, fans of the 10.1-inch model, a device that was refreshed to sport a slimmer form factor following the unveiling of the iPad 2, were today treated to another teaser with Samsung launching a Galaxy Tab 10.1 video advert in which it mocks Apple’s market leading tablet

iPhone 5 8-megapixel camera confirmed by iOS 5?

Apple's iOS 5 software suggests the iPhone 5 is to sport Full HD 1080p video recording credentials

Apple’s iOS 5 mobile operating system is to allow Full HD 1080p video to be exported, seemingly confirming that the iPhone 5 will feature an upgraded camera.

Whilst the iPhone 4 currently touts a 5-megapixel rear mounted camera capable of shooting HD video at 720p, it has been repeatedly rumoured in recent weeks that the iPhone 5 will come equipped with an 8-megapixel snapper, rumours that appear to have been confirmed by the last iOS 5 finding.
With iOS 5 officially unveiled by Steve Jobs at WWDC earlier this week ahead of a launch planned for autumn of this year, a timeframe that would coincide with the expected September arrival of the iPhone 5, the latest iPhone and iPad operating system could land alongside an iPhone revamp that is expected to sport the same A5 1GHz dual-core processor as the iPad 2 and an 8-megapiel camera with 1080p video recording capabilities.

If the iPhone 5 lands with 1080p video recording credentials, it will not be the first mobile handset to do so. Samsung’s market leading and hugely popular Samsung Galaxy S II currently sports an 8-meg snapper with the ability to record Full HD content as well as boasting a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse Review – Road Warriors

I travel quite a bit. Last year I did around 100,000 kms so you can say that I’ve become quite acquainted with airports, airplanes and their respective ways. With this amount of travel, I’ve also come to appreciate that old axiom “Travel light”. Following this golden rule, saves you from a lot of stress, money for paying for excess baggage and of course your body will be thankful of the lessened burden too. “Light” therefore is an important prerequisite when it comes to gadgets that I take with me. If I had to choose one mouse that was light, functional and also had a bit of style, it would be the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse that I was recently provided by Microsoft to review!

microsoft arc touch 21 Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse Review –

There is no doubt that the key feature of the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse is it’s ingenious arc design. To switch on the the mouse (assuming you have batteries installed), simply bend the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse into the curved position. Within seconds, your cursor comes alive on the screen. Simply bend back to the slim flat position and the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse turns off conserving battery power. This method of powering on a mouse is much better than trying to find an obscure little switch. The arc of course also has ergonomic thought put into it. It fits quite snuggly into the palm.microsoft arc touch 3 Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse Review – Road Warriors Will Love This

I was slightly disappointed with the wireless USB adapter. It’s small, but if you’re going to design to make something micro you may as well go all the way – compared to other mini wireless USB adapters, like Logitech’s, the Microsoft Arc Touch’s one protrudes a little too much. Ideally you’d want it as flush as possible with your laptop sides so that you can just keep it stuck in the port. Having said that, I like the way that the wireless USB adapter attaches magnetically to the underbelly of the mouse. When it’s attached it’s quite secure. I’ve tried shaking it off and failed to dislodge it. This is a win for people out there like moi who seem to lose gadget bits and pieces!

It took me a couple of minutes to get used to the mouse especially the touch-to-scroll pad, but after a couple of scrolls through Word documents, I was again mousing like a ninja. I liked how the mouse emulates a real physical scroll wheel by providing a scrolling sound when using the touch-to-scroll pad. In terms of performance, I found it more than adequate to handle my daily clicking through documents, spreadsheets and image editing. One other suggestion I would make for future releases is perhaps a side button that automatically associates itself with the back function on the internet browser.

Sony announces new phones on Facebook

New products focus on media and music functionality

Sony Ericsson announced two new phones today, the Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman and the Sony Ericsson Txt Pro, following a worldwide competition open to the company's 4.8 million Facebook fans.
The txt pro comes with a 3-inch touch screen display, and a full slide-out qwerty keyboard. The phone also comes with a friends application, designed for improved messaging and social networking, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and a micro SD slot that can take up to 32GB cards.

The Mix Walkman comes with identical touch screen, camera, and SD slot, and is apparently designed to deliver the best in musical entertainment. It comes with a ‘Zappin’ key, which allows you to search through tracks by skipping straight to the chorus of the next song, a karaoke feature, which lowers a songs vocal track for your sing-along pleasure, and offers you up to 13 hours of music playback.

Speaking on the manner of the announcement, Sony Global Product Marketing Manager Quentin Cordier said:

“We wanted to take advantage of our extensive Facebook fan base when announcing these phones, bringing the fans closer to both our products and brand. We are really pleased that consumers liked them for their music and social media functionality and expect them to become great additions to our overall portfolio of entertaining phones.”

No word on pricing yet, but expect the release date to be sometime in Q3.

iPad app news: Apple relaxes in-app subscription rules

Apple stacks the deck in favour of its content providers.

Apple has caved-on to pressure from publishers to relax its strict rules for in-app subscriptions on the App Store, meaning magazines and newspapers can now charge what they want for their products.

Apple's previous guidelines, which were set to come into effect on June 30th, saw Apple demand a 30 per cent share of any subscriptions sold through the App Store, while restricting publishers to charging equal to or less than the physical mag.
Now publishers, who have called the policy extortionate, can now charge whatever they like for their in-app subscriptions to account for Apple's 30 per cent of the takings.

In a copy of the new guidelines obtained by MacRumors, Apple has said that publishers who offer their subscriptions on a non-in-app basic will not be charged a cut of the profits.

However, the change could be bad news for the consumer who have been able to take advantage of a few reasonable deals in order to take their daily reads to their precious Apple tablet device.

However, publishing houses will be delighted and might be able to start making some real money from their digital endeavours.

Apple's change of heart might have something to do with the growing trend for publishers to offer their content through enhanced websites, hence by-passing the App Store and cutting Apple out of the profits.

This way stacks the deck very much in favour of the publishers which can now take advantage of iTunes easy payment and download service and still rack in the profits

iPhone 5 launch: When's it going to happen?

New Apple software is all well and good, but where's the next iPhone got to?

For the first time in its history, Apple hasn't released a new version of the iPhone at WWDC, breaking a mould that's been set since 2008.
With the iPhone 4 still managing to hold its own in the specs department, it's fair to say that at present the biggest requirement for an uprgade would be in souping up the processor. The retina-display is still a class-leading product with a pixel-density that, as yet, hasn't been bettered.

Of course with the three huge announcements at WWDC it's just as plausable that Apple felt there was simply too much to cram into a press breifing. iOS 5 completely changes the architecture that traditional iPhones follow, almost wiping out the need for many thrid-party applications through iMessenger, Twitter-integration and the camera enhancements.

Then there's iCloud, the product which Apple believes will revolutionise the way we use portable devices. By transferring everything to the cloud, it increases the functionality of both the iPhone and the iPad, making them more business-friendly than ever.

Speaking about the iPhone 5, Daniel Ashdown of tech analysis company Juniper Research predicts that Apple will up the screen size to 4.3-inches to keep the iPhone in line with the competition.

"There have been rumours about an iPhone Nano similar to the iPod, but we think this is way off the mark, putting it in the context of the market. It will be particularly interesting to see what the size of the display will be, given that it has not changed thus far since the iPhone was launched, while competitors have increased their devices to up to 4.3 inches. We would be surprised if they didn’t break from tradition this time and increase the size of the next model."

Here'es what the rest of the online rumour mill has got to say:

Roberto Baldwin: Mac Life
"iOS 5 is slated to be released in the Fall, iPhone 5 is rumored to appear in the Fall. Coincidence? Yeah, probably not. It makes sense to move the iPhone 5 and iOS 5 release to the Fall. WWDC should be about software and Apple returned to focusing on what the conference is all about. I'm curious if releasing iPhone 5 and next generation iPod touch will result in cannibalization."

Peter Misek: Jefferies & Co Tech Analysts
"According to our industry checks, the device should be called iPhone 4S and include minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor, and HSPA+ support."

Mark Gurman: 9 to 5 Mac
"We have already discovered, in the iOS 4 SDK, that Apple is bringing the A5 chip to the next iPhone, These developers, seemingly from high-level gaming outfits, have been given what is essentially an iPhone 4 but with an A5 processor instead of an A4."

Kate Soloman: Tech Radar
"The fact that Apple didn't announce an iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S today makes a September release date seem ever-more likely. iOS 5, which was revealed today, was also given the vague release date of 'this fall' (Autumn) – we've put two and two together and come out with September; so will iOS 5 launch with the iPhone 5?

Polaroid GL10 review

Expensive and not quite style icon, but easy to use

We were a little disappointed when the Polaroid GL10 Instant Mobile Printer showed up. Not really anything to do with the device itself, mainly because our expectations were so high. This is the first device to be shipped under Lady Gaga co-designed Polaroid Grey Label, and as such we were expecting if not exactly a meat dress, at least something a little more interesting to the eye. But then when you’ve got camera glasses that show the picture on the lens, and a camera that prints from itself, a portable printer was always going to be the most boring of the line.
Polaroid GL10: Controls

That’s not to say it isn’t a perfectly capable little device though. About the size of a paperback, it’s small enough to take with you to festivals or on holiday, and it’s pretty lightweight, too. It feels well built as well, with a rubber underside, so you’ll be confident chucking it in your luggage without having to make a bed of cotton wool. Controls are pretty foolproof – you send pictures to it over Bluetooth or using the USB or mini USB ports on the side, and there are three lights that flash to indicate low battery, when it’s connecting to a device, or a paper jam. The battery is rechargeable for portable use, good for 35 photos on a full charge. You can send photos to it using your phone or computer, and it prints them off just like that. Simple.

Polaroid GL10: Features

Our unit was the first to reach the UK, as such we didn’t have the driver from Polaroid and so weren’t able to load on pictures via USB. But over Bluetooth it is as easy as synching, entering the four digit passcode, then waiting. And waiting. It did seem a little erratic, with some pictures taking about 20 seconds before the printer started whirring and the print emerged like a tongue being very slowly stuck out at us, while others come out almost instantaneously. It didn’t seem to have anything to do with file size either.

Polaroid GL10: Pictures

The prints themselves are 3- x 4-inches, and are water- smudge- and tear-proof. They come out dry too, so you won’t need to shake them like a Polaroid picture. Quality is good, though a lot depends on the camera you use: snaps zapped from our HTC Desire HD were a little washed out and grainy, while those from our Nikon SLR came with vibrant colours and sharp edges. There were some faint vertical lines on all of the pictures though, some more noticeable than others depending on the background.

Polaroid GL10: Verdict

The GL10 is a tough and fun little device that does the job quickly and without much hassle. It's not cheap; you get 10 sheets in the box and its £12.99 for 10 more. Quality’s not amazing, and maybe you would expect better for the price, but then at this size the pictures are more for sticking on the fridge than framing.

Polaroid GL10 launch date: Out now from Firebox

Polaroid GL10 price: £119

FIFA 12 will be a 'game for the world'

A Sports at E3 wouldn't be complete without a FIFA update, and this year was no exception.

EA Sports has showcased its latest FIFA 12 at the E3 conference in LA, showing off new online features and gameplay technologies.
Starting with gameplay the new incarnation will have three new features in place; Tactical Defending, Precision Dribbling and the Player Impact Engine. The Tactical Defending feature requires the player to put more effort into completing a succesful and stylish tackle with timing and aiming being both key to success. Precision Dribbling follows a similar route, enabling the player a more accurate method of passing and running with the ball, while the Player Impact Engine is a physics engine which makes every players movement more realistic.

The second big announcement was the EA Football Club, an online service which is cross-platform and adds a completely new social and competative dimension to FIFA online. By choosing a team you can then watch your team progress through challenges and against your friends online, while showing you stats of how well you're doing.

According to EA Sports this is just the iceberg, with more features to be announced as the months go by. This is certainly the first step by a games publisher to create a service which is compatible between devices. Either way to see a full round-up of the new features, check out the video below.

OSX Lion, iCloud and iOS5 - T3 readers respond

Phone 5 fails to appear at WWDC but software arrives in spades

The dust has settled, and another loaded Apple WWDC keynote from Steve Jobs has passed.

Apple has fired off a series of software challenges to the rest of the industry in just a few minutes – iOS5 with it’s Android-esque notification bar and OTA support, OSX Lion and iCloud’s terminal de-tethering of Apple devices.

Reaction so far has been positive, with s few exceptions. Below is a flavour of some of the best –

Looks like the end of tethering. Icon with a massive pair of scissors cutting a cable just appeared on the Keynote @Stevemills4

iMessage > the slayer of Blackberry Messenger. Kids worldwide rejoice. @Ch3ukl1

Thanks for the efficient coverage of wwdc! You kept me totally upto date. Looking forward to iOS5! @ankisubhan

iTunes Match > scans music library and adds them to your iCloud doo-da. And. Will upgrade your crappy songs to 256k /sweet!!/
@sbobby

I've missed the iCloud announcement. Is it basically a slightly evil, blander Spotify? @charltonbrooker

If iCloud is free and MobileMe is dead - what happens to the subscription people have paid for MMe?
@plummers

Ok, everything Steve is saying is pointing towards Apple redefining the home media server. @Elansyssa

Bing voice search coming to Xbox 360

Tap on that Xbox 360 controller no more...

Microsoft announced that it will be integrating its Bing search engine into the Xbox 360 which will allow you to use your voice to search for products, videos, music, games and more.

Revealed at Microsoft's E3 2011 press conference, Xbox 360 users can also look forward to Xbox Live TV with the UK partnership with Sky set to strengthen bringing voice recognition support for news, sports and local channels.
Microsoft also announced that YouTube will be integrated into Xbox LIVE giving you access to 'Web original' content like gaming tips and the latest videos, all of which you can control/search using your voice.

Microsoft confirmed it is also adding more content partners for its on-demand services such as Zune, ensuring that you never have to look anywhere else for content.

While a host of new Kinect games and a certain Halo 4 stole the show, Microsoft has also significantly upped the ante in the bid to deliver the entire entertainment package.

iPhone app news: Instagram updated with liked photos

Popular social photo sharing app Instagram has updated its 'wares to include a new section dedicated to photos you've previously liked.

The free iPhone which has been a revelation among hipsters looking to assert their retro cool by adding ragged, Polaroid-esque effects of various hues to their snaps before posting them online.
Now, as well as a general speed update which keeps things ticking along at a brisk pace, developers Burbn Inc have added a way to keep all of the photos that you've liked from various users.

This was a rather empty gesture, except to pay tribute to the noble photographer, now you can revisit your favourite shots with the "my liked photographs" tab in the profile section.

Other minor improvements include the ability to add your website name to your profile and auto complete for hashtags. The makeover isn't of the extreme variety, but Instagram is the best app of its ilk and it just got a little bit better.

WWDC 2011: Tech experts' launch predictions

WWDC 2011: iOS 5, OSX Lion and iCloud but what else is coming? UK tech experts' WWDC predictions

In a few hours, Apple will expand on the unexpected bean-spilling of its next-generation software: iOS 5, OSX Lion and iCloud at WWDC 2011 live.

It's the first time in T3's 14-year history that we can remember Apple shouting about a new product or service before its keynote, which leads us to question whether the phrase 'one more thing' may pass the lips of Steve. Who better to opine, then, than the handful of UK press (including T3) selected by Apple to attend WWDC in person. Here are their predictions and possible surprises.

Name: Shane Richmond

Writes for: The Telegraph, Head of Technology (Editorial),

WWDC predictions: If iCloud is merely a service that charges you for storing music that you already own then it will be underwhelming. I think Apple will have learned from its mistakes with MobileMe and won't simply replicate the cloud music offerings from Amazon and Google. We'll see a service that combines with OSX Lion and iOS 5 to move management of all your devices into the cloud. I'm expecting apps that update automatically, wireless syncing between devices and, I hope, the ability to store all your media in the cloud - not just those you've bought from iTunes.

And one more thing: I think there could a hardware surprise at the end of this keynote but I don't think it will be a new iPhone. I think we'll see an updated Time Capsule that enables the iCloud services and, perhaps, allows you to run an iOS device without linking it to a computer.

Twitter launches photo sharing service

It seems that Twitter is getting twitchy over its dominance, first TweetDeck, now Photobucket.
Twitter will soon launch its own official photo service direct from Twitter.com enabling tweeters to upload pictures, videos and then use the improved search engine to see what's been happening via a hashtagIt's a neat idea, working on the same principle that Flipboard operates, the search engine gives you the ability to upload a picture of, for example, an event, hashtag that event then see who else has uploaded pictures.

The upload service itself is in partnership with Photobucket, and while it may not be the expected yfrog or Twitpic, the company certainly has experience in handling photo-uploading.

In essence it's a move that's aimed at bringing everything together, presumably making it easier for us, the customer, but it's also sure to scare third-party developers who will no doubt feel Twitter is moving towards being more isolated.

Microsoft Windows 8 tablets hidden in unveiling video?

Blurred out images could be new hardware range
The web’s moving to the sound of Windows 8. Microsoft has finally lifted the lid on its rival to the iPad and its next PC operating system all in one. You can read the full Windows 8 details here, but something aside from the official word has caught our eye…

If you look at the sections where MS’ Jensen Harris is talking, he’s standing in a room full of concepts and print offs. In the wider shots the paper on the far right of the wall has been blurred out. WhWe don’t exactly have access to CSI-style zooming, enhancing and clarification tech at T3, but if you ask us those blurry shapes are almost definitely tablets. It doesn’t take a huge leap of faith to assume that they’re confirmed Windows 8 tablets. Why else would MS have them blurred out?

In the demo, the monitor being used is an HP number. Given how closesly HP has worked with Microsoft in the past, we can only suggest that the blurred out hardware is a selection of HP tablets, and that HP will be among the first hardware partners signed up when Windows 8 lands

Skype only certifies CPU webcams for HD calling

Skype has decided to keep it safe, promising customers HD chats but only if they pay a premium.
Skype is refusing to certify webcams that do not have their own CPU's built in for it's Skype HD video calling which offers 720p resolution. That doesn't mean non-certified webcams won't work, just that Skype isn't saying by any means that they will.
One example is the Creative Live! inPerson HD which handily has it's own CPU built in allowing it to process the images on a laptop that normally wouldn't have been able to cope. It's a clever idea but does come at a premium, the inPerson HD costs a cool £109.99.

Of course once you have a HD webcam all of this is then reliant on how good your internet connection is. In essence this is Skype covering all the bases making sure their HD service is exactly and only what they're promising.

Is Skype HD worth the webcam premium or is it just too much hassle?

Sony Bloggie 3D review

Sony MHS-FS3 Pocket camcorder brings 3D shooting on a budget

3D dominance hasn't exactly happened in the home in 2011, but nobody can faulty Sony's persistence in putting 3D technology in the majority of its products – including it's compact camcorder Flip-rivalling Bloggie range.
Let's make no bones about it: Sony is bringing 3D moviemaking to the mainstream with the Bloggie 3D – a pocket camcorder that's filled with innovative technology. While Sony hasn't perfected all it sets out to do with the Bloggie 3D, it gives it an admirable goSony 3D Bloggie: Controls
Out of the box, the chassis of the Sony Bloggie 3D impressed. A touch chunkier than the Sony Bloggie Touch (its dimensions are 55x108x17.3mm), the cam is nevertheless small and light (at 120g) in the hand. The matte black of our review model was sleek and it's surprising how little room the dual f/2.8 lenses take up. The imaging power behind the lenses is a 4.5mm CMOS, which works well in both daylight and lowlight in our tests – the lowlight shooting was aided by a nice-and-bright LED light next to the lenses.

Flip the pocket cam over and you have a 2.4-inch parallax screen, which can play back both 2D and 3D. On the right of this is the record button, with the on/off switch and stills shooting button on the top of the cam, flush with the body.

Sony Bloggie 3D: Performance

Booting up takes mere seconds and immediately you can choose between shooting in 3D or 2D. The parallax LCD adds a nice bit of depth to your shots when filming in 3D, which makes it that little bit easier to frame footage – something that is essential for good 3D shots. There are some limitations when shooting in 3D, however, it can only be done when the cam is held horizontally, and things like zooming aren't allowed.

Sony Bloggie 3D: 3D video

Played back on a 3DTV (via a mini HDMI which isn't supplied) and the effect is decent. It's not as ‘in your face’ as you would expect but the 3D is used more as a depth cue. Colours could have been turned up a notch, but the sound (which is recorded to dual microphones), gives off a decent stereo effect. In all, we could get around 80 minutes of 3D footage on the internal memory – which equates to  10 minutes of 3D per gig of space.

Switch to 2D and you have the Bloggie we all know and love. Footage at 1080p/30fps is clear and our 2D and 3D stills (both taken at 5MP) also look sharp.

While we did find the mode ring around the record button annoying and the lack of touchscreen a blow, for decent 3D shooting on a budget, the Sony Bloggie 3D is more-than recommended.
